OK, this isn't South Los specific, but it is too funny to not share.
As any Latino knows, the chancla is a powerful, multipurpose tool. Not only is it comfortable footwear, it also doubles as a disciplinary tool, as your butt may attest to.
Another creative use is for pest control, as in smash the cucarachas with your chanclas.
